Table On-Site Bodywork
Table On-Site Bodywork (TOB) is a full-body massage performed through the clothes on a portable massage couch. Using a combination of techniques adapted from Shiatsu, Anma and Seated On-Site Bodywork, TOB provides a unique, straightforward and flexible approach to work on a massage couch. There are three sequences, each one taught in one day, with the client either lying face-down, face-up or on the side. Each sequence incorporates over 50 specific stress release points over the whole body, bringing a deep sense of relaxation and the maximum benefits in just 30 minutes. Received fully clothed, it is ideal for use in any busy environment e.g. offices, health clubs, general clinics etc.
This is a 3-day, intensive certificate course, each day running from 10:00 – 18:00. The tuition will provide detailed instruction on techniques to release muscle and fascial tension, improve circulation and invigorate vital energy in each of the three sequences. There will be ample opportunity for students to practice on each other.
The TOB course is ideal for beginners, current Shiatsu students or other massage practitioners alike. It offers a good general introduction to basic Shiatsu skills for the novice, while adding invaluable additional skills to those in training or looking to broaden the range of their practice. After the initial training, you will be confident to use this treatment as a part of your massage practice.
There is a short training period following the course during which you are required to prepare a minimum of 30 recorded treatments on at least 5 different recipients. Once this is complete, you will be invited to give an assessed treatment to one of our teachers. After successful completion of the assessment, you will be eligible for the certificate. NB: the certificate can only be awarded to students presenting an existing qualification in Anatomy and Physiology, therefore, for current Shiatsu students, the course is recommended to those who have completed Stage 2 or above.
