Shiatsu Bodywork Certificate Course
This course includes the General Foundation Course, known also as Stage One, plus a further module known as Stage Two. The Shiatsu Bodywork course therefore comprises of 22 - 24 days of study depending on the branch attended (or 20 days on residential version).
We offer the following formats:
- Weekend Options (held approximately one weekend per month)
- Mid-week Options (held one day per week. Some courses held two or three days per week)
- Residential Options (a series of four 5-day blocks held several weeks apart)
- Combinations of the above options.
The Shiatsu Bodywork will equip you to:
- Provide competently a full body shiatsu bodywork session with clients in prone, supine, sidelying and sitting positions.
- Know how to work safely, when it's appropriate to treat or not to treat and to be aware of contraindications to shiatsu.
- ave a basic understanding of the classical meridians and popular points
- Have a basic understanding of the Oriental theory upon which shiatsu is based.
- Have a working understanding of Western Anatomy and Physiology (A&P)
- Most bodywork systems fall within two broad levels of application and training:
On receipt of the Shiatsu Bodywork Certificate you can get insurance* to practice shiastu bodywork (massage) for relaxation and stress reduction.
(* In order to obtain insurance to practice you will need to have also completed the anatomy and physiology course or gain accreditation for prior learning.)You may if you wish elect to continue your studies with the more advanced Shiatsu Therapy Practitioner Diploma, which comprises two further years of study and a final examination module.
- The Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma will equip you with:
- Skills to make a diagnosis based on the theories and principles of Oriental Medicine.
- Skills to give a treatment based on Oriental diagnosis.
- Detailed knowledge of the classical meridians, point functions and their locations.
- Western Physiology and Pathology.
- Enerfgetic self awareness and development.
- The option to apply for professional registration with the Shiatsu Society
The shiatsu practitioner diploma allows you to call yourself a Shiatsu Practitioner and gain entry to the Shiatsu Society register as MRSS.
