How Shiatsu Bodywork differs from Shiatsu Therapy.

Most bodywork systems fall within two broad levels of application and training:

1. Methods that primarily address muscular pain and distortion:
Swedish massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage and Shiatsu Bodywork are in this category. These methods do not require an in-depth ability to diagnose and understand illnesses that result from physiological dysfunction.

2. Methods that diagnose and treat physiological dysfunction:
Shiatsu Therapy falls into this category; using a comprehensive understanding of traditional oriental medicine.

On completion of the Shiatsu Bodywork Certificate course, you may, if you wish, elect to continue studying for the more advanced Shiatsu Therapy Diploma (which comprises further modules known as Stages Three and Four, plus a final examination module known as Stage Five.
